Amita Schmidt is a meditation teacher, spiritual coach, and licensed clinical social worker. Her training includes over 25 years of Vipassana Buddhist practice, including numerous three-month long silent meditation retreats. She was the Resident Teacher for the Insight Meditation Society for six years. She is the co-founder of Southwest Sangha, a self retreat meditation center in New Mexico. She has studied with spiritual teacher Adyashanti since 2003. Amita’s teaching has been deeply informed by her long history of Buddhist practice, her connection with Adyashanti, and her work as a psychotherapist. Amita leads mindfulness meditation retreats and healing depression workshops nationally. She uses various tools to help unburden trauma, anxiety, fear, and depression. Her work focuses on insight, mindfulness, loving kindness, and a compassionate connection with oneself.
